A Brief Excerpt from 1971's Brick Bronson and the Burden of Kin by Stoney M. Badess
"Give me another jug of water,” Brick ordered his unhappy wife.
“This is ridiculous, Brick,” she frowned as she did what she was told. “When I said that the rivalry you had with your brother was nothing more than a stupid pissing contest, I meant that as a criticism, not a suggestion.”
“Too late now,” Brick said with a groan, his stomach distended from the 8 jugs of water he had consumed in the past 45 minutes, “How’s he doing?”
Petra looked over and saw Strike Bronson downing his tenth jug of water.
“You’re two behind.”
“Fuck me,” Brick sighed.
